Tecothane® is an aromatic polyurethane with good chemical resistance. It is available in colors.
Tecothane is one of the six medical polyurethanes we extrude regularly. You can compare it with the other grades on our polyurethane tubing page, or send us your print and we will tell you whether Tecothane is the right fit for the tube you need.
Typical melting points for Tecothane grades on our datasheet are 420°F (215.5°C) to 430°F (221°C).
Tensile strength at break for Tecothane runs 7,000 psi (48.3 MPa) to 9,600 psi (66.2 MPa), with elongation at break of 150% to 450%.
Tecothane has a specific gravity of 0.0405 lb./in.3 (1.12 g/cc) to 0.0430 lb./in.3 (1.19 g/cc), which corresponds to a density of about 1.12 to 1.19 g/cm³.
On our datasheet, Tecothane grades measure Shore A 85 to 94 and Shore D 54 to 75.
Depending on grade, Tecothane is compatible with ethylene oxide (EtO) and gamma radiation. Confirm the method for your specific grade with the resin supplier.
Yes. We extrude Tecothane into custom medical tubing, including multi-lumen, bump and co-extruded designs. Send us your print or call 603.924.4300 for a quote.
