Tecoflex is a family of medical-grade aliphatic polyether polyurethanes.
Tecoflex® is a family of medical-grade aliphatic polyether polyurethanes. They do not yellow and are available over a wide range of durometers, colors and radiopacifiers, including barium sulfate, bismuth salts and tungsten. The low durometer grades in particular may not be suitable for long-term implant applications because of the potential for stress cracking.
Tecoflex is one of the six medical polyurethanes we extrude regularly. You can compare it with the other grades on our polyurethane tubing page, or send us your print and we will tell you whether Tecoflex is the right fit for the tube you need.
Typical melting points for Tecoflex grades on our datasheet are 360°F (182°C) to 400°F (204°C).
Tensile strength at break for Tecoflex runs 5,640 psi (38.9 MPa) to 8,300 psi (57.2 MPa), with elongation at break of 307% to 709%.
Tecoflex has a specific gravity of 0.0376 lb./in.3 (1.04 g/cc) to 0.0466 lb./in.3 (1.29 g/cc), which corresponds to a density of about 1.04 to 1.29 g/cm³.
On our datasheet, Tecoflex grades measure Shore A 72 to 94 and Shore D 51 to 67.
Depending on grade, Tecoflex is compatible with ethylene oxide (EtO) and gamma radiation. Confirm the method for your specific grade with the resin supplier.
Yes. We extrude Tecoflex into custom medical tubing, including multi-lumen, bump and co-extruded designs. Send us your print or call 603.924.4300 for a quote.
